If you are not affiliated with UF, you may be able to get a courtesy borrower’s card to borrow books. See Loan Policies for more information.

Note: Smathers Libraries users must obtain a “free” library computer access-only card at the Library Circulation Desk in order to use any in-library computer.

Using number for remote access to library databases (only current students, faculty, and staff) — The library number on your Gator 1 Card (14-digit number beneath the barcode — begins with 200…) is also used for accessing library electronic resources from home.

To activate your card for use, present it at any library circulation desk.  If you have checked out an item using the card, it is activated.

Exceptions: interlibrary loans, reserves, videos, and items from the Map & Imagery and Mead Libraries. Some outside bookdrops are available when the libraries are closed.

Books returned after the library closes are checked in the next day using the previous day’s date so that undeserved fines are not charged.
