Yes. You may purchase the months of service while on leave of absence up to a maximum of 24 months. However, the time will not count toward the initial vesting period. The costs of purchasing a leave of absence will depend upon the year placed on leave, the retirement contribution rate for that year, the number of months being claimed, and interest for each fiscal year that the balance has been unpaid.
