Because the university encourages informal resolution of grievances and complaints, your immediate supervisor is available to help you resolve any work-related concerns or misunderstandings. Should this type of informal resolution be unsuccessful, you may choose to initiate a formal grievance or complaint. USPS and TEAMS employees have different procedures and various options; therefore, please contact your human resources satellite office for assistance.

As a probationary employee, you enjoy many of the rights conferred upon employees with permanent status. As appropriate based on individual circumstances, you have the right to:

Accrue and use annual leave, sick leave, and compensatory leave
Enroll in various insurances
Apply for vacant positions within your current department, center, or unit
Participate in staff development programs offered by University Personnel Services
Consult with the Employee Assistance Program

Other benefits, as appropriate, include:

Paid administrative leave
Salary payment at least at the minimum of the pay range assigned to your position
Paid holidays
Tuition fee waiver
Nomination for awards and bonuses
Special pay increases

In addition, as a probationary employee, you are covered by workers’ compensation and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
